Retina Services

Screening and management of diabetic, age-related, and hypertensive retinal conditions.

What is Retina Services?

The retina is the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye that captures visual information. Conditions like Diabetic Retinopathy, Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), and Hypertensive Retinopathy can cause serious β€” and sometimes irreversible β€” vision loss if not detected and managed early. At Chopra's Eye and Dental Care, Dr. Kapil Chopra uses advanced OCT imaging and comprehensive retinal examination to screen, monitor, and manage a full range of retinal conditions for patients in Gurgaon.

Common Questions Answered

All diabetic patients should have annual retinal examination, even if there is no vision problem. More frequent monitoring is needed when retinopathy is present. Early treatment prevents progression to blindness.
Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) is a condition where the central retina (macula) deteriorates with age. Dry AMD progresses slowly; wet AMD can cause rapid vision loss and may require intravitreal injections.
Early-stage diabetic retinopathy can be controlled and stabilised with good blood sugar management and appropriate treatment. Advanced retinopathy with vision loss may not be fully reversible, making early detection crucial.
Retinal examination is painless. Dilating eye drops will blur your close vision for 3–4 hours, so please arrange transport after the appointment.
